About this calculator

This calculator estimates the wind load on up to four antennas on your mast, the bending moment that load puts on the mast, whether the mast passes or fails against its yield strength, and how far the mast bends in the wind (deflection). It is based on TIA/EIA-222-G wind-load methods, and shows results at your design wind speed and at 50 mph.

Enter each antenna’s wind area and its height above the top of the tower, your tower height and design wind speed, and the mast’s material, outside diameter, wall thickness and yield stress. The material ratings provided are standard/conservative; you can change them to match your mast. Pay close attention to the deflection number: it shows how far the mast moves sideways in high winds.
